Meet the TSS Team
Richard co-founded The Six Semiconductor Inc. along with his co-founders in 2018.
As the CEO of The Six Semiconductor (TSS), Richard has the vision to take the company to become the industry leader in memory sub-system PHY IP provider, fostering an engineering culture to develop innovative designs with a never-say-never mindset in solving complex technical problems.
Richard began his career as an analog design engineer at ATI Technologies Inc. in 2000. He began his leadership role when he managed the full-custom IO design team at AMD in 2007, and subsequently held the role of R&D director at Peraso Technologies Inc in 2012. He was a sub-group technical lead for the Displayport Standards Workgroup for defining part of the Displayport specification.
As a registered Professional Engineer of Ontario, Richard received his B.A.Sc. and M.Eng. Electrical Engineering degrees from University of Toronto and holds 11 US patents.
Ricky Lau co-founded and is the Chief Technology Officer of The Six Semiconductor Inc. His responsibilities include defining and executing the entire corporate technical direction, architecting memory sub-systems which lead to product feature definition and development.
His career began as a digital IO design engineer at ATI Technologies Inc. in 2003, designing functional and timing logic for DDR3. Ricky architected ATI mobile business unit’s MIPI CSI-II & DSI PHYs, which were one of the earliest implementations in the industry. He was an active participant on the MIPI Alliance standard committee for the ATI mobile business unit.
In 2014, Ricky joined Synopsys as part of the IP Partnership with AMD, where he continued to focus on DDRPHY IP development.
Ricky received his B.A.Sc. and M.Eng. Electrical Engineering degrees from University of Toronto and holds 2 US patents.
Ron Chan is a co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of The Six Semiconductor Inc. He is responsible for all day-to-day operations which oversees the operation, finance, human resources, corporate culture and information technology. Beside operational duties, he is still a contributor of the analog design team.
Ron began his career as an analog design engineer in ATI Technologies Inc in 2001. He moved onto Pixelworks Inc. leading the analog design team in Toronto, Shanghai and San Jose from 2006 to 2016. Following, he became an independent contractor, consulting globally in all aspects of analog mixed-signal circuit designs in multiple foundries and technologies.
Ron is a graduate of a B.A.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a M.Sc degree in IC Design Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is a senior member of IEEE, a registered professional engineer of Ontario and holds 3 US patents.
Co-founder, VP Engineering
Alan co-founded The Six Semiconductor Inc and is the Vice-President of Engineering. He is responsible for all aspects of analog mixed-signal IC architecture and design.
His career began as a analog design engineer for ATI Technologies Inc in 2003. He joined Peraso in 2011 and leading the Analog Mixed Signal division until 2019.
An analog mixed signal circuit expert in low-phase noise high-speed clock generation, PLL, DLL and GDDR5 PHY design. A master in cad and design flow has proven vital in many successful tapeouts with multiple foundries and technologies.
Alan is a graduate of B.A.Sc and M.A.Sc degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and holds one US patent.
Co-founder, Chief Scientist
Eric is a co-founder and Chief Scientist of The Six Semiconductor. He is responsible for all aspects of Analog Mixed Signal architecture and design development.
He began his career in 1997 as an IO design engineer at ATI Technologies Inc. He continued after the acquisition to AMD until 2014 as a Principal Member of Technical Staff. In 2014, he joined Synopsys leading their DDR team through three generations of designs.
A seasoned veteran in high speed IO circuit design including PCIE Gen 1/2, DDR2/3/4/5, LPDDR4/5, GDDR5, HBM2, MIPI CSI-2 & D-PHY, and PLL/DLL. He is a true schematic and layout co-design expert who focuses on area and power reduction while maximizing circuit performance at the same time.
Eric has a B.A.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and holds 2 US patent.
Edward joined The Six Semiconductor Inc in 2020 as a Fellow of Digital Design. He is the team leader of physical design, flow and methodology.
ATI Technologies Inc is where his career began in 1994 as a design engineer and eventually became the Team Leader before leaving for ViXs Systems in 2001. For the next 16 years, he was the Senior Architect of ASIC Engineering before the acquisition to Pixelworks Inc in 2017. Until 2020, he was the Director of ASIC Architecture leading many successful tapeouts.
He is an ASIC design zealot with years of expertise in large-scale SoC development and IP integration. His extensive knowledge spans the whole spectrum of ASIC implementation cycle from architecture design, functional/ performance modelling, to silicon implementation and production testing.
Edward received a B.A.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and is a holder of 6 US patents.
