During the week of September 8, 2025, TSS was invited by the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade of Ontario (MEDJT) for a mission to 2025 SEMICON Taiwan.

In the morning of September 8, the entire Ontario technology mission delegation met up in the Canadian Trade Office for a meet and greet session. The mission was officially started by a welcome speech from Ms. Lesley-Ann Reed, the Director of Trade and Investment, Canadian Trade Office in Taipei.

After the introduction, we made our way to Hsinchu and visited two research facilities, Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI) and the ITRI Electronic and Optoelectronic System Research Laboratories. TSS was particularly impressed with TSRI's model in student training which is setup to meet the ever demand of semiconductor engineers. ITRI gave the Ontario delegation a presentation of their latest research on power supply design. TSMC was one of ITRI's most famous spinoffs and this happened in 1987.

The second day started again in Hsinchu and we visited Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation as well as Sentec Group. Vanguard presented their company portfolio specializing in foundry services for niche markets rather than high-volume standard ICs. Jason Huang from Sentec Group shared with the delegation his vision on affordable electric scooters and cars which there are huge potential in Taiwan and India. As the delegation leaves Hsinchu, we see the final touches being added to TSMC 2nm fabrication facility.

We then made our way back to Taipei to the Nangang Exhibition Center to setup for the 3-day show.

After the opening ceremony of Taiwan Semicon, Marie-Louise Hannan, Executive Director and Lesley-Ann Reed, Director of the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei visited our booth and we gave them an introduction to our business and technology. We then were greeted by the Canadian Jingjing, one of the mascots for the exhibition.

The second and third day, along with the many visitors to our booth, TSS was busy with the many customer meetings setup by the trade commissioners of the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei. This year also marked the 30th year of Semicon Taiwan.

At the end of the second night, the Ontario delegation was invited to attend a small banquet organized by the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei. It was an excellent opportunity to mingle with other members of the Ontario delegation as well as making new connections with some local Taiwanese companies.

It was truly an excellent first experience for TSS to attend such an event as part of Ontario's delegation to Taiwan. We look forward to the next event. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank MEDJT for the invitation as well as Lisa, Sonia, Fandy and Wanjing for all their help during the week!
